Biography

Through songwriting, music,advertising & design and teaching, Ohio-born post-documentary photographer Michael Tittel (1969), has spent a lifetime finding and celebrating the uniqueness of things. His portraiture and landscapes are rooted in the belief and responsibility that photographs can transcend the everyday and speak to us in ways words cannot. A formal commitment to traditional analog materials and lens-based photography enable him to create poetic and believable fictions.

His photographic work has been recognized in publications like Saveur, Condé Nast Traveler, Leica Magazine, group and solo exhibitions, and awards such as the 2024 Communication Arts Photography Annual Best of Show. His work is represented in public and private collections. Michael received a BFA in Photography from Ohio University in 1992 and is a fulltime professor at Northern Kentucky University’s, School of the Arts.
